By decision of the Board of Directors of the Athens Bar Association, the Athenian lawyers fall on a universal abstinence on Friday, 14-3-2025, the day of discussion in the plenary session of the Council of State for annulment for the taxation of freelancers and scientists.

At the same time, on the same day, a protest of the Athens lawyers will take place outside the Council of State.

In particular, the SAA in his announcement states:

“The Board of Directors of the SAA at today’s meeting, having taken into account that:

(a) The Bar Bar from the first moment expressed its utter opposition to the taxation of freelancers and scientists in a presumption, that is, for income that has not been obtained and coordinated its action with the other scientific and professional bodies of the country to overthrow its adverse effects Greek economy.

(b) For the tax year 2024 (tax returns 2025), the reduction of 55% to 27.5% in the tax advance rate provided in the previous year over the additional dispute (between a tax attributable to the taxable income and tax on imputed income) ceases to pay tax imputed income.

(c) The increase in the minimum wage from 780 to EUR 830 implies further the corresponding and even retrospective for the tax year 2024 increase in the amount of imputed income of freelancers.

(d) The Government continues to skip the support of the law firm, insists on not reducing VAT on court services and not increasing the VAT exemption threshold – which is not affected by the imputed taxable income – the only memorandum that has not been paid today. Indeed, for this reason, the European Commission sent a warning letter to Greece for the non -transfer of the relevant Directive (2020/285) to national law, inaction that exposes the country and in sanctions from the EU.

(e) In the context of the relevant plenary decisions, they were brought by Bar Associations as well as other scientific and professional bodies, applications for annulment against A1055/2024 decision of the AADE Governor, which relates to the determination of the procedure for questioning the minimum annual income as well as the procedure and 4 of article 28A of Law 4172/2013, the first administratively offended act of application of the tax law (Law 5073/2023).

(f) The discussion of the relevant annulment applications has been determined on Friday 14 March 2025 before the plenary of the Council of State.

It decided to abstain from its lawyers on Friday 14-3-2025, with the usual framework and a protest of Athens lawyers outside the Council of State on the same day before and in the hearing of applications. “
