The R$ 20 shrimp by Wagner Moura and the R$ 22,000 hotel by Bolsonaro – Cozinha Bruta

by

So the controversy that opens the week is Wagner Moura’s lunchbox in an MTST occupation. The right-wing patrol saw shrimp in the food and strafed out. What best describes my feeling about this is the little eyes turned emoji, unfortunately unavailable here.

Thus, I will seek to express myself through more conventional language tools.

The attack on Wagner and the MTST denotes hatred for the poor, ignorance, laziness and cynicism.

Hate the poor because they think shrimp is a delicacy reserved for the rich. The poor one who eats slightly rotten bone.

Ignorance because these people didn’t recognize, in the filmmaker’s hands, one of the most famous popular dishes in Brazil. There, there is dry shrimp, there is vatapá, there is caruru, there is the acarajé salad. The only thing that doesn’t have is the acarajé itself, the fried dumpling, which Wagner must have asked someone to hold – you can see the small acarajé in the second photo of the same Instagram post.

Wagner Moura is from Bahia. Carlos Marighella was from Bahia. Acarajé is from Bahia. Nothing better than serving acarajé to the distinguished guest.

Laziness because no one tried to find out what the food was about. The dismembered acarajé came from the Acarajazz restaurant and costs R$ 20, less than a chicken meal in any bar in the west side. In fact, the small shrimp that goes with the acarajé is not a white truffle, nor a lemon-caviar.

Cynicism is worst of all.

While Eduardo Bolsonaro attacked Wagner Moura, his father, the “simple” Jair, was staying in a suite in Dubai whose daily costs the equivalent of R$22,000.

The president’s room was paid for by the Arab hosts. There is no reason to question such courtesy to a head of state when it does not involve public money.

Unless the boss in question carries, for the same trip, a retinue of useless people whose trip is, yes, being financed by our money.
