The guilt proposal for former regional governor Rena Dourou on the Trial of the Tragedy in Eye was the reason for Vasilis Sotiropoulos’ statement
On the occasion of the prosecution of the then regional governor Rena Dourou in the trial of the deadly fire in Eye, one of the defendant Vassilis Sotiropoulos made the following statement:
“The Disciplinary Board of elected officials, consisting of a supreme and two senior judges, unanimously considered that none of the Rena Douros’ omissions attributed to the indictment.
The Court of First Instance unanimously, and with the prosecutor’s agreement, ruled that none of the omissions attributed to the indictment and therefore fully eliminated Rena Dourou.
Almost before this decision was made, two ministers announced that an appeal would be brought. His prosecutor actually asked for this and eventually appealed for three of the nine omissions initially attributed to Mrs Dourou.
The Court of Appeal prosecutor proposes her guilt indefinitely for omissions without specifying which and why.
There are firm arguments based on the institutional framework and events to fully refute the indefinite prosecutor’s proposal.
It should be noted, in order to avoid misunderstandings, that according to the expert, the Attica Region, by order of then Attica Regional Governor Rena Dourou, fully facilitated him and immediately provided all the information he requested.
Ms Dourou was accused of the lieutenity of the Fire Brigade, at a press conference, a few days after the tragedy that there was a suggestion for an organized precautionary removal. Then, of course, they took it back, claiming that they did not recommend that in the end, because there was no time to implement this action.
It is at least absurd to consider that Mrs. Dourou, who because of this deliberate misleading was prosecuted, is not the one who has been trying for 7 years now that there is no concealment but to have a lot of light on the case“
