Only the rise current operates and the trains at the point move at low speed until the control is completed by a specialized topographic workshop
New problems on the train line from Lianokladi to Thessaloniki, following a sedimentation on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 on the south side of the large tunnel of Othry.
According to a report by LamiaReport, this is the part of the line destroyed by the cyclone “Janus” in September 2020.
The problem is found in the descent stream and in order to address the phenomenon, OSE and ERGOSE workshops are constantly taking measurements. From Friday night (21/3/25), he has been taking over a specialized topographic coach of the consortium (responsible for the Tithorea -Domokou track), which will make similar measurements every 6 hours to find out how the phenomenon evolves.
For the problem created in the area he visited the Professor of the National Technical University of Athens, who watched the measurements made.
At present the routes are normally operated without problems with the rise current, as all the necessary intersections are made in the Lianokladi. For safety reasons, however, the speed at the point is limited to 40 kilometers per hour.
OSE’s official announcement
From yesterday, Thursday, March 20, 2025, due to a short plug (about 50m) of the descent railway in the southern entrance area of the Othryos Tunnel, OSE decided to one -way traffic through the rise line in the Lianokladi section.
The section affected by the sinking extends for 100 meters and there is a 40 -kilometer shortage. The phenomenon appears to be due to the natural causes associated with the fact that the area was affected by the Mediterranean cyclone “Janos”, but other construction causes are being explored.
The sinking area is monitored on a 24 -hour basis through suitable instruments by specialized technical staff. Every 6 hours are made on the ground by a special team in collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens. All measures to deal with the phenomenon have already been taken for safe traffic.
