For the thriller that is in progress with them deaths of three young children in Patras The president of the Hellenic Forensic Medicine Society spoke to SKAI and the show “Simera”, Grigoris Leon.

As she pointed out, the findings from the toxicological and histological examinations of the third child, her 9-year-old Georginawill “unlock” the case noting that the deaths of the first two girls have many commonalities associated with lack of oxygen.

“We have to wait for the results of the laboratory tests, toxicological and histological, from the third child. The forensic investigation is currently underway. I consider that the experienced medical examiner, when he receives these results, will give to the competent bodies, in Homicide “he’s handled the case, a first assessment of the cause of death and then, within 10 days, he will have completed his report,” he said.

Regarding the findings from the first child, Mr. Leon explained that they were correct, however they do not match the cause of death. “My colleagues are making a very courageous effort, because they found that the cause of death has a significant problem, which does not match either the medical history or the findings, and they set up a committee that is called upon to re-evaluate all the findings – which I repeat are correct. “and to give the new causes of death based on these findings and of course the new data that did not exist when the autopsy was performed”, he pointed out.

Asked if the causes of death of the first two children who died are common, the president of the Hellenic Forensic Medicine Society noted that from what the first two reports show, there are many commonalities. “I tell you, we have characteristics nail cyanosisintense pulmonary edemaintense pulmonary congestion, injuries to the outer openings of the airways, in the nose in one child, in the mouth in the other child, and we have two findings, separately, which, however, refer to the same, ie vacuolar degeneration of liver cells in the first child and in the second lesions as hypoxia in the brain. “They are compatible findings with a lack of oxygen,” he explained. He added that the third child will unlock the whole case with the basic scenarios being two: Either a criminal act or something very rare pathological. “If this question is answered in the third child, the other two children will be solved in any other way,” he concluded.

For his part, the professor of Cardiology, Christodoulos Stefanadis focused on the photo with monitor who recorded the bradycardia of Georgina that saw the light of day. “What makes an impression are the heart rhythm disorders as captured in the monitor snapshot that suddenly shows a progressive bradycardia and then a heartbeat. This is consistent with the description made by Mr. Leon “, he noted.

On the police side, the Secretary-General of the Special Guards, Stratos Mavroidakos, stressed that the officers of the Homicide Department from the first moment have come to terms with what has happened based on the evidence and are waiting for the evidence.

“Experienced homicide officers, when called upon to investigate a case whether it is a crime or not, know that from the first moment with clues they end up with what happened. They are waiting for the receipts to bring the guilty to justice if a human hand has intervened. They have already come to terms with what has happened based on the behavior of a person and the testimonies of the doctors, who helped and so the homicide was called. “There are profilers who can outline how someone behaves and if they have done something wrong,” he said.

He compared the case of Patras with his own Babi Anagnostopoulos for Caroline’s death, stressing that in this case, too, the officers knew what had happened from the moment they entered the crime scene.
