The “golden” generation of Greece is impressed – either at the club level or by crashing three goals in Glasgow. The Greek sporting audience has a right to dream again. The months ago with a 1-2 win against England in Wembley was a historic victory for National Greece. A victory that came through a perfectly racing appearance, with seriousness, plan, efficiency, but also dominance against a brokerage team of more than one billion euro. But 0-3 against Scotland for the Nations League, despite the lower capacity of the opponent, was much more important-and probably a point-rough in the history of our representative band, the beginning of a golden age.

With an average age of 22.7 years

In Hubden Park in Glasgow, Ethniki lined up with one of the newest eleven in the history of European national competitions, having an average age of 22.7 years: with eight players under 24, with 17 -year -old Konstantinos Karetsa and his 29 -year -olds.

At the same time, four of the eleven players lined up with the blue whites have not yet completed 10 appearances with the coat of arms (Tzolakis, Vagiannidis, Mouzakitis, Zafiris, Konstalias, Karetsas) – a fact that shows the Mouzakitis playing together at Olympiacos-the other players are not together, not even in training for more than five or ten times a year.

‘Babies’ of well -known value

After the first match of the play-offs with Scotland and a 0-1 defeat, much of the Greek sports fan was in favor of using more young players in the rematch-something the lack of freshness and imagination by the most experienced players, such as Mandalos Impressive, many have at least wanted to see what the new players could do if they all come together on the pitch from the beginning of the match.

Federal coach Ivan Jovanovic may have considered before the first match that such alchemy may not have a high chance of success and that it is a risk to “descend” a eleven with such inexperienced players. But was there really a risk in such a choice?

Despite their young age, young people have already proven much on a cross -country level, winning titles and have already taken Europe’s top clubs. Tzolakis has been key and irreplaceable for Olympiacos for a year, winning the Conference League last year and probably heading for the double this year – as was Mouzakitis, who last season won the Youth League with the Olympics.

Constantelia has been a key to PAOK for years, with whom he makes excellent appearances and has won the Greek Championship and Cup. Tzolis is a pivotal gear of the Club Bruges, scoring goals and assists in the Belgian championship and writing hundreds of minutes in the Champions League, while last year he was the top scorer at 2. Bundesliga with Fortuna Düsseldorf. Zafiris “writes” in his converter also many minutes as a key to Prague Slavia, with whom he will probably win the Czech Championship this year, and finally Karetsas, though 17 years old, counts 1,266 minutes in Genk, and he is also a championship in Belgium – Okay to her potential.

National has a bright future but also present

Before the young people are ripening-literally and football-the young people are already distinguished at the collective level, so it was a matter of time to do so with the coat of arms.

Jovanovic allowed them, presenting us with a fantastic ensemble that seems capable of following Europe’s top teams, scoring movie goals and scoring historical wins.

And most importantly: the bright future prescribed for these children and for this national, which has now completed a decade without qualifying in the World Cup and European Championship final, perhaps not even so distant: by the end of 2025 the National will be called upon World Cup of 2026, which will take place in the US, Mexico and Canada.

And if the “golden” generation of Greece stands even in part of the expectations – which it itself has created – we will remember again in 2015 seasons: count the time for the next time we see the National. Why? Because these children give us the right to dream again.
