A police operation of the Organized Crime Management Directorate led to the dismantling of a criminal organization committing burglaries in homes and shops in Attica.

Members of the spiral were carefully selected by their prospective victims, using GPS in their vehicles. In this way, they could watch their position in real time and calculate the distance and time they took to return.

During the operation, two foreigners, members of the organization, were arrested in downtown Athens.

It is the 54 -year -old leader and a 43 -year -old man, who had been formed by the above service, under which the arrest warrants were issued for a criminal organization committing thefts, committed, co -conspiracy and continuously. The same case file includes another member, who is similarly prosecuted and sought to be arrested.

In particular, as it emerged from the many months of investigation, the defendants, at least since October 2023, had set up and joined a criminal organization committing burglaries and thefts in homes and shops in various areas of Attica in order to obtain illegal assets between them.

The way of action

  • They were moving in the evening, mostly in downtown Athens but also in neighboring areas, using their personal cars, making the initial subordinations of candidates for their targets,
  • They chose houses and shops in such a way that burglaries would make the maximum possible benefit of theft value,
  • They were watching the movements of the owners – tenants – residents before the theft was performed,
  • They possessed and placed on the vehicles of the candidate victims of transceivers of geonentism in order to know the victim’s position and calculate in real time the distance and the duration required to return,
  • They checked the apartments either externally or internally inside the apartment building to see if residents were absent,
  • When committing the theft were in constant telephone communication with each other, using mobile phones registered in names of non -existent aliens and coded phrases,
  • They held special know -how and expertise on the various types of locks circulating on the market, as well as technical integrity in lock violation,
  • They took additional measures when entering the houses covering their features so as not to be recorded by installed video recording systems,
  • They used second or more identity information to make the work of the law enforcement authorities difficult, while the organization’s operational vehicles were registered with elements of other persons.

At the same time, the role of each person was ascertained as the burglaries were committed as follows:

  • The 54 -year -old owned a key and leading role in the team, as he, having a powerful network of information, located the homes and vehicles of their tenants, while devoting a lot of time to monitoring the routine of the victims. During the commitment of the burglaries, he remained externally having a coordinator, informing other members of the group of the situation outside the houses, giving a detailed description of the characteristics of the tenants and their vehicles in the event that they returned to their homes. In addition, he had taken over the financial management of the organization, recruited new members of the team, and decided on the composition of each time the team that would commit the forthcoming theft,
  • The 43 -year -old was in charge of the “operational” part of the commitment of burglaries with technical knowledge, and usually played the role of the natural perpetrator of these performer.

From the physical surveys carried out as well as from the surveys of houses, vehicles and in a private parking lot, they were found and confiscated:

  • Numerous tools that can be used to open doors and nods of locks,
  • various tools (work gloves, hammer, screwdrivers),
  • Burglary Jockey -type tools and hats that have been used during thefts,
  • Numerous jewelry, branded watches and goldsmiths (rings, earrings, bracelets, chains), collectible clock,
  • various accessories (wallets, leather zones, lighters),
  • SIM cards and connection packages,
  • numerous sunglasses and branded perfumes,
  • money transfer cards,
  • branded female bags,
  • -2- decorative swords,
  • numerous documents and proof of purchase of items,
  • -3- mobile phone devices,
  • the sum of -70 -euro,
  • Private Golds’ Performance Agreements in Poicry,
  • Crowds of crosses with various stones, golden and silver chains and various pendants,
  • numerous burglary tools (screwdrivers, lenses etc),
  • two single -rooms,
  • device for detecting precious stones,
  • Position Detection (GPstracker),
  • numerous mobile phone devices,
  • numerous SIM cards,
  • numerous proof of transfer of money money, various documents and
  • -2- cars as a means of committing burglaries.
  • The investigation has been the involvement of members of the criminal organization in -4 – cases of burglaries in apartment buildings and shops in downtown Athens and Nea Ionia.

The overall benefit gained by the criminal organization from its action exceeds 15,000 euros.

In addition, the process of issuing a European arrest warrant against the other member of the criminal organization is moving.

The detainees, who have previously been dealing with the authorities for similar offenses, have been led to the competent prosecutor’s office, while investigations into the full range of their criminal activity are continuing.
