In the presence of 50 -member scientific mission mosquito spraying (larvae) with drone
In the presence of an international scientific mission, a drone trial was carried out at the wetland of the Schinias National Park in Marathon, shortly after the 3rd spraying application, from soil in the area where there is a large population of mosquitoes.
The spraying operations were attended by 50 scientists as observers, representing 19 research institutions and universities from 10 European countries and additional 2 outside Europe (New Zealand and Bangladesh). Their presence in our country is due to their participation in the three -day European Idalert Program, held at the Ionian Center in Athens (March 26 – 28).
It is noted that on the part of Greece in the Idalert Partner program is the Benakeio Phytopathological Institute, which is a research associate of the Attica Region.
Regarding the larvae operation, East Attica Vice -Mayor Vicky Kavallaris noted that “in the light of the safeguarding of public health”, the action is being carried out on a regular basis and will begin intensively and with aerial means, such as drones and helicopters.
Referring to the presence of the 50 -member scientific mission that followed the spraying work, Mrs Kavallaris described the very positive comments on the operational level and the processes implemented by the Attica Region. “
It is noted that this year, the Integrated Spraining Program in the East Attica Regional Unit for the year 2025 began in early March and that at the same time all municipalities have the responsibility to implement corresponding programs within the urban fabric, conducting cleaning and spraying in all rainwater, and in all rainwater wells.
