Oils are collected from thousands of places across Greece (car workshops, ships, etc.) and gathered in its 7 tanks of interest
In the first place among EU countries in the field of lubricant collection and recycling, our country remained in 2024, according to data presented yesterday by its Managing Director (Alternative Lubricant Waste Management) George Deligiorgis.
According to these figures, the interest achieved 82% (70% European target) and a 100% regeneration rate (against a 100% target).
The oils are collected from thousands of places throughout Greece (car workshops, industrial installations, ships, etc.) and gather in the 7 tanks of the interest (Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Heraklion, Kavala, Volos, Kozani). From there they are channeled into processing facilities where the Renaissance is performed to be reused as a basis for lubricants.
Mr Deligiorgis said that the Greek lubricant collection and management system achieved the top performance in the EU, while announcing the digitization of the collection process, which means that both the interest and the EOAN would be informed in real time about the collection and distribution of lubricants.
He also stated the following:
“For another year, we prove in practice that the circular economy is not theory – it is a daily work with measurable results. Our country maintains the lead in the regeneration of lubricants, and this is a fruit of collective effort, know -how and constant investment in innovation. With the look in the future, we continue with the same consequence of investing in initiatives that boost the circular economy and create a tangible benefit for society, public health and the environment.“
