As the SAA of Athens summarizes in a statement, lawyers decided to abstain from their duties next Monday, April 7th.
A universal abstention on Monday, April 7, the Athens lawyers decided, when they will submit to the Minister of Justice to the Minister of Justice to be disciplined by the Supreme Court President Ioanna Klapa, on the occasion of her interventions as they say, while they will be abstaining.
The SAA reports in its announcement:
The Board of Directors of the SAA at its meeting today and after taking into account the decision of the Coordination Committee of the Presidents of the Bar Associations of Greece, which met on 30.3.2025 decided:
(A) Approval of the submission of disciplinary reports against the President of the Supreme Court, in accordance with the decision of the Coordination Committee.
(B) The organization of a joint event with the Association of Judges and Prosecutors on the issues of judicial independence in Greece, on a day and time that will be mutually agreed.
(C) The abstinence of its members from the next meeting of the Supreme Court plenary session chaired by the current president, in protest of its selective interventions with communication targeting.
D) The universal abstention of its members on Monday, April 7, 2025, on which the Minister of Justice will be filed with the Minister of Justice for the plenary to investigate the disciplinary responsibility of the President of the Supreme Court, according to Kodkdl (Law 4938/2022).
