By order of Attica Regional Governor Nikos Chardalia, the market controls are intensified by the competent departments of the Region, in view of the Easter holidays, in order to ensure public health and to combat consumers’ profanity.

It is noteworthy that in recent weeks the health scales of the Region have seized almost 11 tonnes of inappropriate meat from warehouses and catering shops.

In particular, the auditors of the Department of Rural and Veterinary Policy seized 10.390 pounds of inappropriate meat – the largest quantity seized in the current year across the country – by pantry.

Also seized 439 kg from catering storesdue to non -compliance with sustainability and storage conditions. The confiscated quantities will be managed under the supervision of the services of the Attica Region, followed by similar administrative sanctions in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.

“We have proven in practice that our administration will not leave the slightest margin of tolerance to those who endanger public health and the safety of citizens. We have made bold, radical interventions, so that our control mechanisms would operate quickly and effectively, with complete transparency and respect for their citizen and their institutional mission, “Attica’s regional governor said, while pointing out the need to tighten the controls.

“We guarantee that festive goods will reach the consumer’s table, absolutely safe and at the right price. Phenomena of deception, profanity and product quality undermining will not be tolerated. Our competent services are in the field at night to make this commitment a reality, ”he said.

In Easter, checks will extend to all businesses that fall under the jurisdiction of the region’s mechanisms, such as meat distribution companies, ova and other food categories, supermarkets, popular markets, cheese products, poultry facilities, poultry facilities.
