“Our effort to eliminate the image of scattered abandoned vehicles from the streets of Athens continues to bear fruit. In the last 2.5 years, the services of the Municipality of Athens have removed a total of 4,248 abandoned cars and motorcycles, a number that corresponds to approximately 42,500 sq.m. living space for the Athenians. “We continue with targeted and persistent work to create a quality daily life for residents and visitors, planning interventions in the direction that even a won centimeter of public space is valuable for the city,” he said in a statement. Vehicles that have been removed from September 2019 until today (2,573 cars and 1,675 motorcycles) have been led, in accordance with the procedure laid down, to certified recycling facilities.
