The third Delphic holidays will take place in May 2027 and will take place every three years.

The aim is not only to create a cultural event, but a global movement that will seek solutions for today’s world challenges.

In antiquity, it led the classic world to challenge assumptions, interpretations and identities, to “know itself”. The aim is for Delphi to serve again in mankind as a third, natural and virtual space, available for everyone to participate and seek collective solutions to the key challenges of our time.

Alexandra Mitsotakis referred to the start of the World Human Forum in 2017 by Delphi, following a proposal by Konstantinos Mitsotakis, noting that the goal of WHF is a bright future that will unite humanity. There is a crisis of culture, there is a crisis of values, he said. Starting with the Delphi and the values ​​that they are inspired by WHF, he made important events and actions in Delos, Elefsina and Aristotle High School, returning to the “navel of the earth”. “Our Delphi made us succeed in our venture,” Mitsotakis said.

Describing the broader historical context, and in the shadow of the destruction of Asia Minor, Mrs Efthimiou stressed that Sicilian and Palmer were focusing on the combination of modern and ancient Greek culture with the look of Hellenism. He noted that the Renaissance venture, and the way of the Renaissance, the Delphi holidays is difficult, but it is worth the effort, inspired by Angelos Sikelianos and Eve Palmer and the difficulties they faced.

The press conference was also Eleni Sikelianos, a great grandfather of Angelos Sikelianos who focused on the vision of the poet and Eva Palmer.

The first Delphi holidays

The first Delphic holidays began on May 9, 1927 and lasted three days. They included performances of ancient drama with amateur actors, gangs, Byzantine music concerts, lectures and folk crafts. They were repeated on May 1, 1930. The costumes of the actors had woven Eva Sikelianos herself on patterns of folk art. The Delphi holidays were deemed successful and recognized internationally, but in the midst of the great recession the cost was high and it was not possible to continue as the state was indifferent to their support.
