The seven -seater family SUV won the World Luxury Car title, thanks to its comfortable and elegant interior, advanced security technology and its distinctive Scandinavian design.
The purely electric Volvo EX90 is the most impressive new luxury car released in the last 12 months, according to the World Car Awards experts. The seven -seater family SUV won the World Luxury Car title, thanks to its comfortable and elegant interior, advanced security technology and its distinctive Scandinavian design.
The ex90 was awarded on Wednesday, April 16, just before the inauguration of the New York International Motor Show in Manhattan. The World Car Awards jury, consisting of 96 car journalists from 30 countries, evaluated the ex90 after extensive driving tests. During their time, the judges had the opportunity to appreciate the almost quiet but powerful Twin-Motor movement of the Ex90, 517 hp, as well as its ergonomic and luxurious interior designed for comfort for long trips.
“We are glad to see the ex90 enjoying the recognition that is really worth it,” says HÃ¥kan Samuelsson (Hocan Samuelson), Managing Director of Volvo Cars. “The ex90 has found strong competition against him, but his award proves that he is aimed at the most demanding customers around the world.”
The design approach of the ex90 is simple and condenses some of the essential values of Scandinavian design. It is important that the form follows the function. The front is imposing, but with smooth curves that allow the air to flow best around the car. This design, combined with elements that come “face” with the body, such as side glass surfaces, also greatly improves aerodynamics and efficiency.
Lidar’s integration into ex90 was an aerodynamic challenge that deserved because of its contribution to safety when combined with cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors. Together, the above data provides a detailed picture of what is happening around the car. To maximize the effectiveness of Lidar and reduce the drag coefficient, we have incorporated it into the center of the roof, under a low profile cover – an almost seamless implementation.
Inside the cabin, which is one of the quietest in the class, the ex90 includes new advanced materials that highlight Volvo Cars’ unique approach to modern luxury. Nordico, for example, is a leather -free lining, with elegant appearance, made of recycled and biological origin materials from Sweden and Finland forests. The advanced LED technology inside, which reproduces a bright spectrum very close to the sunlight, as well as the wooden rear -light decoration contribute to the cabin atmosphere.
Thanks to its truly seven -seater interior layout, the ex90 exhibits a rare advantage for its category: plenty of luggage compartment. With all seats developed, it has up to 324 liters of storage behind the third row. With the seats in the third series folded, its storage capacity increases to 697 liters, a price that stands out from its competitors.
With this title, Volvo Cars has won three World Car Awardsincluding the title of the 2018 car for the Volvo XC60 and the World Urban Car 2024 for the Volvo Ex30. In 2018, Volvo’s CEO of Volvo Cars HÃ¥kan Samuelsson was the first to be honored under the title of World Car Person of the Year.
