Announcement on the shocking incident that occurred during a surgery at Alexandra Hospital that resulted in a patient being undergoing burns, was issued by the 1st Health District. It is noted that Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis ordered an immediate administrative examination, in the presence of a special expert, for the “unacceptable accident” – as he said – with the patient undergoing burns.

In its announcement, the 1st Health District states that the 72 -year -old woman underwent a scheduled surgery today (24/4). “During the surgery and at the end of it and” possibly due to a sudden occurrence of a medical technological equipment of the surgery, a flame was caused by which the patient suffered 2nd degree burns. “

It is emphasized that “there has been immediate mobilization by the surgical team and the present nursing staff to deal with the incident and how the patient was on the same day and after the patient’s burns and their initial treatment by a plastic surgeon, the 72 -year -old was awakened.” As noted in the announcement, the patient was transferred to the hospital resuscitation for post -operative monitoring by three medical groups, gynecological, plastic and anesthesiological and is treated in accordance with medical instructions, while her health is stable.

“In order to investigate the conditions of the incident, an administrative examination was ordered by the administration of the 1st Ministry, while the full file concerning the entire medical equipment used during this surgery was requested on the same day,” the 1st Health District said.

“For the unacceptable accident with the patient who suffered a burn at the Alexandra Hospital I ordered a SAD in the presence of a special expert”he says, in his post, by the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis and adds:

“I wish you a passionate patient, I apologize and I pledge that the incident will be resolved and the person responsible will be punished.”

Regarding the events that took place at the ALEXANDRA GNA on 24/04/2025, we know the following:
