Four-hour work stoppage in the banks on Monday 28/3

In warning nationwide work stoppage the bank employees the next Monday 28/3/2022 from time 11.15 to 15.15as announced by Federation of Banking Organizations of Greece (OTOE).

The fifth meeting will be held on the same day trading between OTOE and the Banks on signing of a new Sectoral Collective Bargaining Agreement.

OTOE warns me escalation of mobilizations if this meeting is also fruitless.

The announcement of OTOE in detail

The 4th negotiation meeting for the new Sectoral BCC OTOE – Banks that took place on Wednesday 22-3-2022 was also fruitless.

During this meeting, the representatives of the Banks came back with the same arguments in relation to the current situation and with a marginally improved, but equally unacceptable proposal on the salary issues.

Their proposal for increases over a three-year period does not make up for the serious losses suffered for many years by the sector’s employees, in order to temporarily support the Banks in the most difficult period.

It is inconceivable for the Banks, which are among the most important and powerful companies in the country, to demand from their own employees to finance – again – their investments and to pay – again – the broken galloping precision.

The representatives of OTOE:

. They warned the Banks that, if they persist in their position so far, they will bear full responsibility for the failure of the negotiations and with all that entails for the continuation.

. They reiterated that now it is the turn of the Banks to turn the page and show their social responsibility in practice.

• Recognize the sacrifices and contributions of employees throughout the past.

• To send a positive, optimistic and substantial message to the markets and society, a message commensurate with their size, importance and power.

Based on the above, OTOE invited the representatives of the Banks to come to the new meeting with substantially improved proposals.

The General Council of OTOE in the enlarged Meeting, which took place on Thursday, March 23, was in favor of the continuation of the negotiations, but with a parallel escalation of the mobilizations.

In this context, it decided:

 The announcement of a nationwide warning work stoppage for the entire industry, for Monday 28/3/2022 from 11.15 to 15.15.

 The authorization of the Executive Secretariat of OTOE to proceed with a further escalation of the mobilizations, even if the next (5th) OTOE – BANK Negotiation meeting on Monday 28/3/2022 is again fruitless.

OTOE, together with the Associations and the employees, remains unwaveringly oriented towards the goal for the signing of a satisfactory but also dignified new Sectoral SSE, which meets the modern needs of the employees of the sector and the challenges of the times.
