Disruption was caused shortly after six o’clock on Tuesday afternoon at the Ampelokipoi Metro Station when citizens reported that there had been a fire on the rolling stairs.

Firefighters with two vehicles rushed to the spot, who found that smoke was actually released from the rolling staircase on the side of the entrance to Sutsu. Actions followed to find the source of the fire that appeared to be deep in the staircase mechanism. That is why it took assistance by the station’s security personnel who shook specific parts of the staircase to throw water. One of the scenarios examined is to throw a cigarette from a passenger or passenger who then caused the fireplace or even the damage.

During the incident, the station’s staff, following the protocol, interrupted access from that entrance, without affecting the operation of the subway -just instructions were given to use the entrance from the opposite side of Alexandra or the lift.
