The possible recruitment of other people by the same “guide” is being investigated by the police regarding the espionage case in Alexandroupolis.
More specifically, the 59 -year -old painter, arrested in Alexandroupolis for photography and video recording of military installations, was found in custody with the agreement of an investigator and prosecutor. He is accused of espionage in times of peace, and is allegedly recruited by a person with a criminal past and interconnections in organized crime, known as “Vicente”, according to ERT.
The 59 -year -old claims that he did not own or distribute state secret information and that the images that were publicly circulated on social media, without endangering national security.
However, he is of particular interest in the role of his 52 -year -old recruited recruitment, also a homogeneous Georgia, who was arrested in Lithuania and is alleged to have played a business role in Russian military secret services (GRU) for at least three years. According to authorities, he had active action as a saboteur in the Balkan countries, organizing and performing spy and sabotage missions to the detriment of NATO facilities.
The EYP was aware of the 52 -year -old’s action, watching the straits, especially from the summer onwards. In the autumn, frequent movements and contacts were found in northern Greece, reinforcing suspicions that he had set up a network of informants, where he served as a “operator”.
The case is extremely serious, as authorities do not exclude the existence of other involved or even planning offensive actions within the Greek territory. Lithuanian research revealed that “Vincent” had moved to their country to execute a death contract against Russian dissidents.
