It is noted that by order of the Minister to the Chief of the Coast Guard – Greek Coast Guard, Vice Admiral LS. Tryphons Kontiza, was ordered to conduct an Administrative Inquiry (SAD) in order to investigate the circumstances under which the incident occurred and to assign responsibilities where appropriate.

The order for SAD also concerns second serious incidentwhich occurred on April 30, 2025, on a ship on the Syros – Piraeus line, when a catapult was restored by the crew, a practice that lies serious risks to the safety of the ship and the occupants.

The Ministry of Shipping assures that all necessary measures will be taken by all responsible persons and stresses that security in maritime transport remains non -negotiable priority.
