The 39 -year -old accomplice who was fatally injured by a bomb explosion outside a bank branch yesterday in Thessaloniki, and probably the manufacturer of the bomb, has been identified and searched by police.

According to SKAI information, the man – acquaintance with the authorities for criminal offenses – lived with the 39 -year -old in an apartment in Ladadika, who had been rented via Airbnb. After the explosion he disappeared from Thessaloniki and the authorities are now looking for him in Athens.

Inside the apartment were found large quantities of high-power explosives, eight common detonators, a small amount of TNT, but the most important finding is one kilo of gelatinodyitis, a material that was in the bomb envelope sent to the Thessaloniki courts in Thessaloniki.

Police are investigating the possibility of the explosion to be the attempt to theft of ATM money, by the blast method, but a scenario does not seem very likely as ATMs are on the other side of the bank, far from the point where the explosion took place.

Relations with “Butterfly”

Authorities are also considering the unfortunate woman’s relations with the infamous 37 -year -old “butterfly”, with whom she was arrested after a bank robbery in Monastiraki, with a Kalashnikov in her backpack in September 2021.

According to Theodosis Panos, this man in the recent past and through the prison leased “criminal” for 500 euros, to place explosive mechanisms in the goals he chose – mainly in judges, with whom he had a dispute – but also in banks.

Aroma of terrorism in the case

Speaking to SKAI, Attica Police President George Kaliakmanis said that the case involved a group of criminal – anti -authoritarians – moving on the outskirts of terrorism.

Police are still not sure of the motivation for the attack and are investigating all scenarios.
