Oscar -winning director and screenwriter Paul Haggis was exempt from sexual abuse, as his lawyers announced today. Haggis was arrested in June 2022 and remained for 14 days in home restriction after a British complained that she raped her in the city of Southern Italy, where she participated in a film event.

Brindisi’s judge ruled that there was no sexual act without consensus, according to reports from 72 -year -old Haggis lawyers. “For Mr Haggis is the end of a nightmare, who has unjustly destroyed the career of a cinematic genius that has been an Oscar -winning,” said lawyers Michele Lafzia and Daniele Romeo, informing that their client will give a press conference tomorrow.

Haggis was the director and one of the screenwriters of the film “Crash” (2004) who was honored with two Oscars. He also wrote the script of the Million Dollar Baby drama, directed by Clint Eastwood, who released the same year and won four golden statues.

In November 2022, Haggis was forced by a New York Court to pay $ 10 million as a compensation for the rape of a journalist in 2013.
