Representatives of the Agios Savva Workers’ Association complain that there was no marking on the UV lamp switch that prevents its use during surgery.

This lamp is used only after particularly infectious incidents And while there are no people in the surgical room. In fact, with modern sterilization, the use of a UV lamp is no longer necessary.

However, according to information from the Ministry of Health, a technician – a worker in surgeries said that the lamp switch was marked for its use.

According to the same information, patients did not have burns, while the burns suffered on the skin by twelve health are not serious. Those who have suffered burns in the eyes also receive special treatment to deal with them.

The Agios Savva Workers’ Association points out, among other things, in its announcement:

“The serious incident that happened on Monday 05/05/2025 during the 3 surgeries performed by our Hospital employees in ELPIS halls resulted in colleagues (lit UV lamp, without special marking, for more than 11 hours) to have solar burns, and their eyes in their eyes, Long time in UV radiation. The same applies to patients.
