In the clearance of a fraud case against an 84 -year -old woman, her police officers proceeded Division of Prosecution and Delineation of Heraklion Crimes.

According to police, the incident was reported in October 2024 when an unknown person had phoned the 84 -year -old and pretending to be the accountant presented false events as truly, managing to extract her bank account details and carrying 3,000 euros to another account. The following survey preached that the transfer account of the deducted amount of money belongs to a 35 -year -old woman against whom a fraud was filed.

The preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Heraklion Criminal Prosecution and Delineation, while by the Crete Regional Police Directorate of Crete, the Citizens were called to be careful in order not to fall victim to surveillance.

As typically stated in the instructions:

  • Do not persuade when strangers are asking you to pay money for debts of known or relatives to public services or shops for purchasing services-offering services or for tax refund from insurance funds or to avoid a person in charge of your person.
  • Do not give information on the number of PIN or your account.
  • Do not in any way accept unknown people to take you to a credit store or ATM for money.
  • Always have the phone numbers available with which you must contact in case of need (police, firefighters, hospitals, close relatives, etc.).
  • Always inform the police authorities, even in the event of an attempted fraud against you.
  • Update your familiar persons (of the close and wider relative, friendly and social environment) and in particular the elderly people on the content of the present and to advise them in order to avoid their victimization.
