Those who have seen the series “The Queen’s Gabi” understand the capabilities of 5 -year -old Sofia Kaliskami, a chess master, who remained unbeaten in seven matches in the Pan -Hellenic Student Championship in Thessaloniki.

About her talent and method, her teacher, Pantelis Lykouriotis, talked to ERTNEWS, saying that his young student “has a unique combination of talent and devotion. He plays for many hours daily, does exercises, reads and works very methodically, “he said, noting that such dedication is rare even at an older age.

For his talented daughter, the father of the young chess player, Nikos Kaliskamis, spoke to his “connections”. “Sofia, just two years old, was impressed when she first saw a chessboard. She started asking her mother what this game is and how it is played. ” Mom, knowing chess, began to explain it in a simple and fairytale way: “Every pawn has its own” house “and can claim it,” she told.

Since then, in addition to racing with her peers, she has been training daily playing online chess. “She is practicing puzzles and plays online matches,” her father said, explaining her success in the tournaments.

Sofia herself, in addition to the king and the queen, who is her favorite pawns, says she feels good when she wins for it and is training daily.

“It’s nice to win,” said the young chess player who, when asked by the show’s presenters what is the secret to her success, replied: “To think well and do a lot of training.”

As for what her favorite pawn is, she replied without hesitation: “The King and the Queen.” The five -year -old champion does not, of course, neglect her childhood, stating: “I like to play with the dolls too.”
