The Greek Parliament today honored the day of remembrance of the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus by illuminating the facade of its mansion.

In the House building the logo was displayed with the original letter of the English word genocide, the letter G, as a sign of mourning for the victims of the genocide.

The inspiration for the creation of the logo was the photo depicting the 5,000 orphans march near Hosput in 1922.

The semicircle of the G’s letter is shaped by human figures, which make up a course. It symbolizes the “death marches” of the displaced Greeks of Pontus, during which he lost his life to a large part of the population, and all the suffering suffered by the Greeks of Pontus during the genocide.

At the end of the course, a plant is shown through human figures. This is a Amarana bundle. Amaranos has the property, after being cut, to maintain the bright yellow color and shape of his flowers for many years.

The durability of the plant is identified with the dynamics of Pontian Hellenism, which, although suffered by the Turks and was cut off from the land, managed to survive, maintaining its historical memory and culture. It is also indicated the deeply rooted belief that Pontian Hellenism will continue to grow.

“No oblivion and no silence can cover the murder of the 353,000 Greeks of Pontus in the years 1916-1923. And as the Poncontan Federation of Greece emphasizes,” if we forget we will be lost “, it is said in a statement on the lighting of the Greek Parliament.
