A new wave of African dust from Sahara has begun to the Central Mediterranean and mainly Italy, with its east ends affecting our country, according to the Information Node on the atmospheric composition in Greece, Atmohub.
In particular, today and tomorrow, Wednesday 21/5, the dust will be found mainly in the upper layers of the troposphere, without a substantial effect on air quality near the surface.
In northern and northeast Greece, the combination of rain and dust will lead to landscaping via muddy mainly tomorrow 21/5.
As of Thursday 22/5, a gradual increase in concentrations and the lower layers of the atmosphere, with a burden of air quality, is expected.
Areas that will be most affected:
- Ionian Islands
- Peloponnese
- Central Greece
- Thessaly
- Continent
- Crete
Finally, as Atmohub points out, caution is recommended in vulnerable groups, such as people with respiratory problems and the elderly: Limit exposure to outdoors.
