Prosecution for bribery The prosecutor exercised him to the detriment of a felony Christou Mauritius.

The defendant was a deadline to apologize to the investigator on Friday morning.

The law (Article 237 of the Criminal Code) considers the promise of an equal benefit to a judicial officer.

The article provides a penalty of imprisonment up to 10 years and a fine to anyone promising or providing benefitsdirectly or through a third party, to judicial officers with the aim of “his action or omission, future or already finished, which goes back to the performance of his duties in the administration of justice”.

In the letter in question, in which Mr Mavrikis allegedly identified by his name, the case code stated, and stated that the sender would receive, in the event of a positive judicial outcome and sale of the extent in question, a fee of € 1 million for brokerage.

The arrested person allegedly denied that he attempted to bribe the judicial officer.

Christos Mavrikis, a former OTE technician, has previously been involved in the affiliation of politicians and other persons who was revealed in 1993, and has been convicted in the past for another case of a judge.

Strange affair

According to Anna Kandilis’ report on SKAI, judicial circles are strange as the case, as the bribery attempt occurred shortly before the vote to elect the new Supreme Court leadership.

On June 3rd, the plenary will be held, where judicial officials are also opted for who they want in the leadership of justice, as the term of office of President, Prosecutor and other judicial officials expires at the end of June.

Judicial circles have linked the case to the election procedure. The rationale is that someone may have tried to trap the Areopagite, whose name is heard for a higher position, possibly to “burn” him.

According to the report, Christos Mauritius claims that he had no intention of bribing Areopagite and that “it was just a case that had to be resolved”.

The way of attempted bribery, via letter, are unprecedented, and there are other strange points as a supreme judicial officer who has nothing to do with the case and does not handle it.

The controversial case concerns a legalization of 100 acres in the Papagos area with the public and an individual.
