Alarm has been sounded in Serres due to increased uranium prices found in water, in areas and villages of the Municipality of Serres.
According to ERT, the areas where increased uranium values ​​were identified are as follows:
- Local community of Lefkona, with 1,376 active amenities,
- Christ’s local community with 264 benefits,
- Settlement of the Metohio with 100 benefits (including the Monastery of Vysiani), a area of ​​Melenikiotika (considered a semi -paramilitary area) with 85 benefits,
- Serres-Chrysopigi area with 112 benefits,
- Settlement of Chrysopigi with 154 benefits.
DEYA of Serres, in the context of frequent sampling checks throughout the territory of the Municipality of Serres, has found exceeded the parametric price of uranium in specific areas. Immediately it was necessary to take further inspection and therefore followed a second row of sampling from the set of sources, drilling and tanks that supply the Municipality of Serres but also from many parts of the water distribution network.
