Saint Luke
Saint Lucas was born to Athanasios and Domnitsa in Adrianople, Thrace. At the age of six, he was orphaned by a father and his mother handed him over to a Zagoras, with whom he settled in Constantinople.
When he was 13, Lucas was in a Turkopoulos out of his master’s house and showed it. This was seen by the Turks present there and rushed with anger against Christianopoulos. Lucas, in order to avoid punishment, told the Turks: “Let me and I will shout.” Then the anger of the Turks was overwhelmed and took him to a noble Turk, who succeeded in his Islamism.
But controlled by his consciousness, Lucas sought the help of his Lord from Zagora, who tried to release him with the intervention of the Russian embassy. But the Russian embassy, in order to avoid any abnormalities, said that he would only accept Luke if he escaped from his Turkish master’s house. Indeed, after a few days, Lucas managed and escaped from his master’s house and, after boarding a ship, went to Smyrna, and from there to Thira. There, with the advice of a spiritual, he came to Mount Athos, where he remained quite a bit. There he returned to various sketches and monasteries, eventually a monk in the Stavronikita Monastery. However, he was occupied by the desire of the martyrdom and departed for Mytilene in March 1802 AD.
Due to some event, Mytilene at that time was in great turmoil. Luke, with the wishes of the Fathers of Mount Athos, was presented to the judge of the city and courageously confessed to Christ. Despite the flatteries and terrifics of the Turks, the Thracian witness remained unmoved by his faith and his decision to testify. Driving to Nazi, on the street he met Metropolitan Mytilene, who was going to the criterion, leaned over and kissed his hand and asked for his prayers. For this energy, the escorts of the Turks ruthlessly showed him.
In front of Nazarene, Lucas with Euphrates preached Christ and accused the Muslim religion. After a three -day deadline, which exhibited without results for the Turks, Naziris issued a conviction. So on March 23, 1802 AD, Lucas was detected in Mytilene and received the glorious wreath of the martyrdom. His holy relic remained for three days in Anchone, then threw it into the sea.
