The Municipality of Delta has been laid on alert, following the confirmation of four outbreaks of streptococcal infection in school students in the communities of Kiminos and Sindos, as reported by thestival.gr.

According to an official announcement by the Municipality, the Health Services are on mobilization, and in collaboration with the National Public Health Organization (ESO), preventive disinfection is being carried out in the school complexes where the incidents were identified. Disinfection began on Friday, May 23 and continue on Saturday, May 24th.

The Municipal Authority stresses that all the Health Protocols of the EDU are strictly observed and the predicted and treatment measures are applied, with a key priority in protecting the health of children, teaching staff and the wider school community.

At the same time, it appeals to parents and teachers for vigilance and immediate recognition of symptoms such as fever, sore throat, rashes or fatigue. In the event of such symptoms, immediate contact with a physician is recommended and inform the school management in order to take the necessary measures in time.

The municipality also urges to strict adherence to the rules of personal hygiene – such as frequent hand washing and mouth and nose coverage during cough or sneezing – as well as regular ventilation of the interiors.

Finally, the Municipality of Delta assures that it is in constant communication and cooperation with the EDYY and the competent authorities, and is committed to directly informing citizens of any relevant development.

Streptococcus outbreak in toddler in Kalamaria

Earlier, a new case of Streptococcus was found in a toddler in the area of ​​Thessaloniki in the Municipality of Kalamaria.

According to a statement from the Municipality, the school complex in Skra Square will remain closed next Monday, May 26th, where the 5th and 13th Primary Schools and the 27th Kindergarten are housed.

At the same time, it will remain closed from Saturday 24/5 until Monday 26/5 and the indoor gym inside the complex.
