The four -member family of climbers from Bulgaria, who had been trapped on Saturday night at the “Zonaria”, was safely led to the “Spilios Agapitos” refuge in Olympus, at an altitude of more than 2600 meters.
It is about two experienced adult climbers and two childrena 7 -year -old girl and a 11 -year -old boy who were trapped due to weather conditions, as beyond the snow at the site, there were winds and rain in the area, losing their orientation.
OR Fire department accepted the call of climbers around the 11 on Saturday night And firefighters and members of EMAK with special mountaineering equipment rushed to the area. The operation involved 14 firefighters from Litochoro, plus members of the 2nd and 8th EMAK, who were talked to the climbers, who did not report any injuries to the scene.
The climbers approached Sunday’s early morning hours and led to the “Spilios Agapitos” shelter at 2,060 meters.
