One of the largest and most serious violations of religious and individual freedoms of recent centuries has been currently taking place in Egypt, and even in times of peace, according to orthodoxia.info.

The earliest Christian monastery in the world, the Monastery of St. Catherine Sinai as well as any real estate in Egypt, pass into the hands of the Egyptian public. Nearly fifteen centuries after its founding by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian, and having survived incredible historical adventures, the world -renowned and respected monastery of St. Catherine is heading for his conversion into a museum.

Essentially, despite Egyptian President Sisi’s promises to the Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis, Egypt is confiscating the monastery’s property and is essentially evting to the monks from it, so that vacant buildings can be transformed into a tourist attraction like the pyramids.

A suspicious judicial decision

The ruling made yesterday by an Egyptian court ending in the worst possible way to the many years of legal attack by the monks of St. Catherine from the Egyptian state, who through judicial pressures and attacks from the time when the “Muslim Brothers” were working on the “brothers”.

Now the ownership of the monastery and all its assets passes into the Egyptian state. The monks are called upon to abandon specific properties where they are no longer allowed to access and remain in the monastery to perform their religious needs for as long as the owner allows them, that is, the Egyptian state.

In order to strengthen the monks’ struggle, there was significant support from the Greek government, while Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis himself brought the matter to the highest level, asking President Sisi at every opportunity to intervene in favor of the monks, according to Orthodoxia.info.

Indeed, during the official visit of the Egyptian president to Athens in early May, the issue was concerned with the two delegations that resulted in an agreement to cease unjust judicial attacks in the monastery so that it could continue its course in time, undisturbed. In the joint statements made by Messrs. Mitsotakis and Sisi made a clear reference to the need to preserve the character of the monastery.

And while it all seemed that the girlfriend and ally of Egypt would restore injustice, as her president publicly pledged, yesterday’s court ruling brings up and down, raising reasonable questions about what the real intentions of the Egyptian authorities are ultimately “in the foul”.

False statements by Egyptian officials

And while at the moment there is a terror in the monastery about what will follow, Egyptian archaeologists such as Dr. Abdel Rahim Rican, a specialist archeology and a member of the Committee on History and Antiquities of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Culture, after arguing that the real estate of the Egyptian State fall under the laws on antiquities, insisted that this decision was in favor!

“We consider this decision historical for the benefit of the world heritage and for the monks of the Monastery of St. Catherine, as it guarantees their right to benefit from the monastery and the religious and archaeological sites of the area,” he said in a local media.

The monks, however, who in no way consider that all this is for their benefit and believe that the historicity of the decision has to do with the violation of their rights, are already preparing a global mobilization and informing of all Christian churches and the rest of the monotheistic religions, since it essentially removes it.
