Journalist Christos Kiritsis passed away today at the age of 90.

The ESIEA Board of Directors announced, with great sadness, the loss of a colleague, who was a member of the Disciplinary Board and the Board of Directors. of ESIEA.

Christos Kiritsis was born in Athens in 1935 and originated from the village of Selci Argirokastro. After completing his high school studies, he was admitted to the Law School of the University of Athens, where he graduated, subsequently practicing law for many years, along with journalism.

He began his journalistic career in 1961 by the Kathimerini newspaper. He then worked in the newspapers “Meridrini”, “Hellenic North”, “Acropolis”, “Free Press”, at the General Secretariat for Communication and Information and finally in the newspaper “Unfolded Press”, from which he retired.

Throughout his journalistic journey he worked in the report of the Ministry of Justice and the court report, and was also an author of the Ministry of Agriculture. During the forty years of his career, he covered all the major political trials, which shook the Panhellenic. He was a dear and gentle colleague, with his properties leading him to actively engage in trade unionism.

He was initially elected a spokesman for the journalists in the “Unbound Press” and then served as a member of the Disciplinary Board. Since 1997, he was elected a member of the Board of Directors. of ESIEA for 8 terms (16 years). During the period 2015-2017 he served as Vice President of the Board of Directors. of ESIEA with a distinct project for the industry.

Christos Kiritsis was a journalist completely trained, with morality and knowledge. He fought hard for the benefit of his colleagues and acquired the respect and appreciation of all. A deeply religious man, as he used to say, from the Christian teaching of the peace of the soul, a registration of passions and a love for his neighbor. He was tangible to this love for colleagues who were trying, without ever publishing it.

The ESIEA Board of Directors bid farewell to the journalist, the friend, the companion in the righteous struggles. Warm condolences to his family and relatives.

The funeral of Christos Kiritsi will be held on Monday, June 2 at 14:00, at the Zografou Cemetery.
