Greece: They went to check for coronavirus measures – Finally they “threw” fines for smoking

The intensive controls carried out throughout the country by the Hellenic Police Services for the implementation of the measures to prevent and limit the spread of the coronavirus continued yesterday.

Yesterday, Saturday, March 26, 63,612 inspections were carried out throughout the country, of which 28,639 at the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”.

A total of 118 violations were confirmed.

At the same time, 28 fines were imposed for violating the anti-smoking law.

Detailed tests and results

Thirty-two offenses for not using a mask, etc. related infringements and 30 fines of 300 euros and 2 of 150 euros were imposed, as follows: 13 in Thessaloniki, 7 in Western Macedonia, 4 in the North Aegean, 3 in Epirus, 2 in the South Aegean, 1 in the Peloponnese, 1 in Central Macedonia and 1 in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

Since the implementation of the new measures (November 7, 2020), a total of 105,392 similar violations have been confirmed and 101,752 administrative fines of 300 euros and 3,640 of 150 euros have been imposed.

Since the entry into force of the measures (November 7, 2020), a total of 196,860 similar violations have been confirmed.

Week seven – six violations of the rules of operation of stores, private companies, etc. violations of the relevant legislation (prohibition of operation, non-use of mask, percentage of square meter per person, etc.).

In the above cases the following sanctions were imposed for violation of suspension of operation, etc. related infringements of the relevant provisions, namely:

In Thessaloniki, 6 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by store employees and 6 violations in stores.

In the Peloponnese, 1 violation of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by a store employee, 1 violation in a store, for not posting a sign of the maximum number of people allowed.

In Central Macedonia, a fine of 10,000 euros to a store owner of health interest, with a 30-day suspension, for customer service without the necessary certificates and 1 violation to the customer, 6 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by store owner and customers.

In Central Greece, 12 violations of 300 euros, for non-use of a mask, by customers, employees and temporary store manager.

In Epirus, 14 violations of 300 euros, for non-use of a mask by customers and store employees.

In Crete, 6 violations of 300 euros, for non-use of a mask by customers and a store employee

In the Ionian Islands, 4 violations of 300 euros, for non-use of a mask by customers, employee and shop owner.

In the South Aegean, 2 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by store employees, 3 violations in stores, for not posting a sign of the maximum number of people allowed.

In Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, 7 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by customers, employees and shop owners. In addition, 1 violation, for not using a mask, in a KTEL waiting area.

In Western Macedonia, 3 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, in Public Transport.

In the North Aegean, 1 violation of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by a store customer.

In Western Greece, 1 violation of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by a store owner.

Since the implementation of the new measures (November 7, 2020), a total of 34,150 similar violations have been confirmed and 3,034 people have been arrested.

The inspections continue with undiminished intensity for the protection of public health.
