Israeli research: 4th dose significantly reduces coronavirus death rate in over 60s

The country’s largest healthcare provider, Clalit Health Services, said the 40-day study included more than 500,000 citizens aged 60 to 100.

About 58% of participants had been vaccinated with second booster doseie with four doses in total.

The rest had been vaccinated with only three doses of coronavirus. The researchers recorded 92 deaths from the first group and 232 deaths from the second, smaller group.

“The bottom line is that the second boost saves lives,” said Ronen Arbel, a researcher at Clalit and Sapir College.

This report, however, has not been evaluated by peers. Excluded from the study were citizens who had been vaccinated with the rival Moderna drug and those who had received medication against COVID.

Israeli Health officials have published a number of studies on the effectiveness of vaccines during the pandemic, which have influenced the decisions of the authorities in other countries.
