In prison the Sotiris Terzoudis (then leader of the Fire Brigade), Vassilis Matthaiopoulos (then deputy commander), John Fostieris (then leader of the EKKE) and Ioannis Kapakis (then Secretary General of Civil Protection) to serve the 5 -year sentence imposed by the Three -Member Court of Appeals in the trial for the deadly fire in the Eye.
“For the 4 defendants, the penalty is without suspension, without conversion as they are suspected of committing new offenses and we will justify our decision further,” the president said.
For the remaining 6 defendants the sentence was converted in cash per 10 euros per day.
Earlier, the prosecutor had said: “To estimate the sentence for these 4 defendants and not to be converted. I propose this with the belief, nor has any of them to date have a minimum of the responsibility of this act and the cost of their omissions for citizens who had duty to protect because of their duties. “

The court decided to convert the 238 -year sentence to 10 euros daily for their
- Christos Golfino, then Director of “199”,
- Philip Panteleakos, then Director of the Civil Protection Business Center,
- Damianos Papadopoulos then Commander of the Nea Makris Fire Station,
- Nikos Panagiotopoulos, then Athens Fire Brigade Commander and
- Charalambos Chionis then East Attica Fire Brigade Commander.
By the same decision, he decided to convert the sentence for Konstantinos Angelopoulos for 10 euros a day.
