The preliminary examination of the crime of homicide by negligence against elected and municipal officials in the case of the accident in the Halkidiki Luna Park, was ordered by the Thessaloniki Appeals of Appeals.

According to the provision of the public prosecutor, the investigation – which is called upon to carry out the Polygyros Public Prosecutor’s Office – is directed against seven persons who have already been brought to trial for breach of duty. Among them are Mayor Kassandra Anastasia Chalkia, two deputy mayors and two municipal officials – heads of services (and additional two engineers).

These persons were sued by his father 19 -year -old who lost his life in the amusement park last August. The lawsuit was, among other things, the crime of homicide by negligence, linked to acts and omissions on the installation, operation and security of the Luna – Park.

This criticism was rejected by the Halkidiki Criminal Prosecutor- according to information, on the grounds that there is no causal relevance between the acts and omissions found to be found.

However, a different view was by the Thessaloniki Appeals of Appeals, Stefanos Zarkantzias, who accepted (as virtually justified) the lawsuit of the sufficient father against the previous rejection decision and, by order, ordered a preliminary (criminal) investigation.

It should be noted that in terms of the criminal liability for the owner of the Luna Park, his wife (as a co -ordinator of the business), the Crazy Dance operator and the mechanical engineer who had provided a Certificate of Operation of the Game is expected by the Council.
