A new educational initiative of the Ministry of Education brings from the upcoming school year (2025-26) vegetable garden In kindergartens and elementary schools, integrating experiential learning for the environment in the heart of educational daily life.
This is the program “Vegetables in schools: We are working with critical thinking and vision, we are rejoicing, creating,” that “marries” sustainable development with pedagogical practice.
“Our goal is for the school to become a living space for sustainability, not only through books, but also in practice,” the Minister of Education, Religions and Sports, Sofia Zacharakis, told RES-EIA.
“Vegetables in schools cultivate critical thinking, environmental consciousness, teamwork and joy,” she said. Zacharaki, while also stressing that through the program “every child learns how something important is born – just like an idea and a collective effort can be born a better tomorrow”.
“The aim of the action is for primary education pupils and pupils not only to acquire knowledge, but to cultivate perceptions, attitudes and values ​​that accompany them out of school – as citizens, as members of a community, as people who respect the land and the other,” he concluded.
