The JMD set out the terms of employment of university doctors in the private sector, which provides, inter alia, that they can work with a special license granted by the Senate of the HEI concerned.

The JMD was signed by the Minister of Education, Religions and Sports, Sofia Zacharakis, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, the Deputy Minister of Education, Religions and Sports, Nikos Papaioannou and the Deputy Minister of Health, Marios Themistokleos.

The decision clearly defines the terms, conditions and procedures that govern the out -of -university employment of university doctors, promoting transparency, institutional responsibility and the safeguarding of the public interest.

In particular, it is envisaged that Faculty and EDP members who are doctors may provide services to private health bodies (private clinics, diagnostic and therapeutic laboratories), with a special permission granted by the Senate of the HEI. The provision of these services may not be provided with a dependent labor relationship, ensuring academic independence.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Religions and Sports, Nikos Papaioannou, underlined: “This JMD marks a significant breakthrough in the organized cooperation of the Public University with the private sector in the critical area of ​​health. This decision puts an end to chronic ambiguities and formulate a clean, institutional and transparent framework for the out -of -university employment of university doctors. At the same time we ensure their complete response to their academic and hospital obligations, enabling their scientific training to the private sector, for the benefit of all society.
