His camera where there is Greece traveled to the beautiful Ikaria, and, among other things, talked to the islanders, to reveal to us what the secret of longevity is.

The island of Ikaros is considered one of the longest areas in the world, with locals living on average more than inhabitants of other areas of both Greece and Europe, as the percentage of the nineties and centimeters that exist there is much higher than the average European term.

As the same characteristics say, what plays a big role is the simple, traditional way of life, lack of stress and of course good nutrition. Most of the islanders eat the products they themselves cultivate in the gardens and their fields, olive oil is an essential ingredient in all recipes, go for nature walking and of course … they do not wear watches! And while they may have been accused of being “lazy” for the slow rhythms of life on the island, and this bears its own explanation.

The Ikarians were and are very hardworking. But in the old days, and because of the fear of pirates, they have learned to work and circulate mainly at night. Before well – well dawn they baked a coffee, they went to take care of the animals they had and then went to the fields. While the sun was going, they returned to their homes, and after eating all together, they went out at night to make their purchases! Even today in the northern part of the island, the shops are open in the evening, for people to shop, and in the early hours they are open, but if one wants to buy something, there is a piggy bank to throw in the money. This special habit has passed from generation to generation and still remains alive.

Also, the inhabitants of the island are very hospitable, and you will understand this once you step foot on the island. There they also attribute the distinct vibe that Ikaria exudes compared to the rest of the islands. And if you are lucky enough and achieve a festival, you will find that the whole world becomes a company, and they all dance together in the squares and under plane trees, as if there is no tomorrow. And somewhere between the fast Ikarian and the intoxicating sounds of the violin you forget about the stresses of everyday life, but also the sense of time. And this is the authentic and separate energy of Ikaria.
