In total, 36,342 deaths (18,276 men and 18,066 women) were recorded, while during the corresponding period of 2024 (01/01/2024- 07/04/2024) they had 35,117 deaths (17,742 men and 17,375 women).

Reduction by 1,906 deaths (5%) was noted in relation to the average of total deaths of the first 14 weeks for the year 2019-2024 (38,248 deaths). The corresponding rates of change per year for the period 2019-2024 are:

  • 7.5% in 2024 compared to 2023 (37,945 deaths), at -13.7% in 2023 compared to 2022 (43,968 deaths), at 17.8% in 2022 compared to 2021 (37,338 deaths), at 0.8% in 2021 compared to 2020 (37,627 deaths) and at 0.4% in 20 in 2019 (37,492 deaths).

According to ELSTAT, during the first 14 weeks of 2025 compared to the corresponding period of 2024, the most important Increases are recorded The 9th (24/02/2025- 02/03/2025), the 11th (10/03/2025- 16/03/2025) and the 10th week (03/03/2025- 09/03/2025), by 17.9%, 17.5% and 17% respectively. The most important increases, at absolute prices, are recorded in the regions Attica, Thessaly and Crete by 543, 180 and 141 deaths respectively. While the reductions are observed in the regions Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Peloponnese and Western Macedonia by 59, 31 and 17 deaths respectively.
