A new case of telephone fraud occurred in Heraklion, victiming an 89 -year -old woman who was persuaded to hand over money to a supposed doctor to save her … daughter, as neakriti reports.
It was reported that everything happened on Thursday afternoon (19/6), when the elderly received a phone call from a man introduced as a doctor. The fraudster told her that her daughter was seriously injured in a car accident, hospitalized and had to undergo surgery immediately. For the surgery, she was asked for 4,000 euros.
The elderly replied that it had just 700 euros, and the alleged doctor agreed to take them to “start the process”. Shortly afterwards, the woman, as they dictated her, placed the money in a bag and threw them off the balcony of her home to receive a collaborator.
However, the move of the perpetrator was recorded by security cameras, with the police identifying the 45 -year -old Greek woman, who allegedly was the one who received the money from the spot. The 45 -year -old woman, “collector” in this new fraud, is sought by the police.
The investigation of the incident continues by the Heraklion Security Directorate. Authorities remind citizens to be particularly cautious about telephone calls from unknown people and not to deliver their money or personal information without crossing
