A significant increase is recorded in migratory flows to Crete in the first half of 2025, according to official data from the Coast Guard.

Specifically, from January 1 to June 22, 2025, 133 incidents were recorded with 7,051 immigrants, compared to 45 incidents and 1,968 immigrants in 2024. The increase reaches 258%, marking a new trend in Crete’s choice as a gateway.

For the whole of 2024, flows to Crete amounted to 107 incidents with 4,935 immigrants, indicating that this year’s numbers already exceed last year’s annual data.

On the contrary, at the territory level there is a slight decrease in total flows. From 1/1 to 22/6/2025, there were 526 incidents with 16,533 immigrants, compared to 777 incidents and 17,248 immigrants in the same period of 2024 – ie a 4%reduction.

For all 2024, the Port Authority recorded 2,302 incidents with 53,440 immigrants nationwide.
