The case is exclusively handled by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, which requested the assistance of the Greek authorities, while simultaneous investigations into customs criminal acts are being carried out in five countries outside Greece, namely Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, France and Belgium.
According to reports, in addition to the raid of the Internal Affairs Service at the 3rd Customs Office, 20 people have been investigated in Piraeus Customs Office and so far a total of 8 people have been arrested.
The three of the detainees are being held for illegal possession of possession, while five other criminal case is filed against the other five, for various serious offenses.
In particular, the information is reported, among other things of smuggling, as they recorded different goods than those in containers arriving in Piraeus, in customs clearances, bribery and other offenses.
Also, approximately 4.5 million euros have been found and seized, and homes and offices will continue tomorrow.
The detainees will be brought to the European Public Prosecutor’s spokesman tomorrow, and many digital evidence have been seized, which have been transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division.
