This summer, the European Commission begins in Seville the construction of its first building of clean positive broadcasts. Symbol of viability and innovation, the new facilities of the Commission’s Common Research Center (JRC) in Seville will be the first building to fully integrate the principles of the new European Bauhaus.
President von Der Laien spoke to the opening ceremony, marking a major step in the European Union (EU) efforts for sustainable architecture.
The project intends to go beyond the goal of the neutral carbon balance, offsetting COâ‚‚ from the atmosphere, mainly through the production of solar energy that far exceeds its own functional needs. Inspired by the traditional architecture of Seville, it will be the first institutional building of the EU of this scale to have clear positive broadcasts. The construction is expected to take two years.
The event, which was broadcast online at 13:00 Greek time, was also attended by Commissioner for Neophy, Research and Innovation, Ekaterina Zachariieva, the Commissioner for the Environment, Water Resilience and Competitive Circular Economy, Yasika Roussews and representatives of the Spanish government.
Ekaterina Zachariieva, Commissioner for start -ups, research and innovation, said: “Thanks to an amazing organizing cooperation, this is the first tangible example of the Commission for the new European Bauhaus, an initiative that gives us the opportunity to transform society – improving lifestyle in Europe. Today we see what the real path to innovation is. ”
JRC’s facilities in Seville were inaugurated in 1994 and host more than 400 international workers, providing technical information and data to support key European policies such as innovation, economic modeling, fiscal policy, digitization and artificial intelligence.
