Tens of thousands of pilgrims are flocking yesterday to the Monastery of St. John the Theologian, in Souroti Thessaloniki, for the feast of St. Paisios of Mount Athos, whose memory is honored by the Church today.

The tomb of St. Paisios lies in the monastery and the faithful come massively to worship. From yesterday, Friday, July 11th, the cars. cars do not go up to the monastery and the pilgrims are transported by bus.

In the last months of his life, after cancer hospitalization, Elder Paisios lived in the monastery – from November 1933 until early July 1994.

Elder Paisios died on July 12 and was buried behind the sanctuary of the church of St. Arsenios of Kapadokos.
