Theodorakopoulou-SKAI: 90% of patients are not vaccinated- They call for help at “para pente” | Skai.gr

The Vice President of the Hellenic Society of Intensive Care, Maria Theodorakopoulou, made a dramatic appeal to vaccinate the people who have not already done so, who, among other things, spoke to the main news bulletin of SKAI and Sia Kosioni about the cases of people reacting to rescue.

“There is still time for people to be vaccinated, please, we will not be able to bear it soon and there will be no people to treat them,” he said, stressing that a large percentage of patients, almost 90%, are vaccine-negative.

She, who from the Attica Hospital is now volunteering at the Papanikolaou Hospital in Thessaloniki, where the 52-year-old who refused the intubation died, said that many of these patients are not convinced and ask for help from the doctors when they arrive at the “paraglider”. And their situation is marginal.

“The feeling of shortness of breath is tragic and when the patient’s breathing is very difficult and needs oxygen and when he reaches the paraglider then he calls for help because he understands that he can no longer fight and because he feels that he is leaving,” he explained.

Ms. Theodotakopoulou pointed out that the negative reaction creates discomfort both in oneself and in the whole system, with the result that some end up being intubated late because an entire procedure needs to be done to allow doctors to do so. and then they arrive at the hospitals completely “dissolved”.

“Then we make superhuman efforts to save some of them and to deal with the denial of the relatives we inform and they are also vaccine deniers and have the same logic as the patient,” he said.

At the same time, Ms. Theodorakopoulou spoke about the pressure that exists in hospitals and referred to the need for specialized staff who can fall into the battle of dealing with the situation.
