Easter with certificates and masks recommended by the Commission – No lifting of measures until May Day

by

No lifting of measures will not be done until May Day, according to what was decided to the Committee on Infectious Diseases, which met earlier.

Although the government has announced the lifting of the measures, especially with regard to the abolition of vaccination certificates, it is not ruled out that the experts will postpone the relevant decisions for May and not for the Easter period, as the pandemic is on the rise.

In particular, the table was set the access of the unvaccinated to the restaurant, but also the abolition of the obligation to show a negative rapid test to enter the shops.

As for the use of the mask, in the first phase it is expected to be abolished in most interiors, however it will probably be maintained in some “high risk” areas, such as hospitals, MMM and supermarkets.

At the same time, for the vaccinated, the government plans to lift the obligation to present the vaccination certificate as we approach the summer.

In any case, the 5-day quarantine for those with coronavirus will not be reduced.

For the course of the pandemic, but also relaxation of measures with the gradual removal of the mask from Easter onwards, he spoke earlier to SKAI and the show “Unmatched” Nikos Tzanakis, Professor of Pulmonology at the University of Crete, noted that although the incidence is increasing, the hard indicators are declining.

“We see many cases from Omicron 2, which, however, do not translate proportionally to many hospitalizations and mainly to intubation and death. “While 3 weeks ago we had 120 admissions per week in the ICU, today we have 102. Imports from 1,982 per week increased to 2,359, while deaths from 409 per week were reduced to 331”, he stated characteristically.

In this context, it proposes the prevention of the vulnerable, the vaccination with a third dose of those who have not done it, the administration of the fourth dose to those proposed by the National Vaccination Committee, the provision of antiviral treatment for all people who will need it and the gradual opening up society.

“We should leave the vaccination certificate, as they have now lost their value and I believe that after Easter the mask should be gradually withdrawn,” he stressed.

However, he emphasized that the measures were to be taken gradually, given that Denmark and Norway, which have been fully relaxed, are now leading the death toll per million inhabitants.
