by

Just two 24 hours after service for digital naming and baptism of children 550 parents they clicked on gov.gr and gave the name they wanted to their child. Specifically, from Tuesday 29 according to a joint ministerial decision of the Ministers of Interior Maki Voridis and Digital Government Kyriakou Pierrakaki, the new service is provided in a very simple way on gov.gr, through the section “Family” and the subsection “Birth”. In this way the parents have the opportunity to declare the name of their child, his baptism, as well as to receive electronically the updated registration deed.

The process is extremely simple, as the citizen connects through Taxisnet codes or with them web banking codes and submits them statements electronically. The naming declaration is made in combination by both parents. With the approval of the second parent, the declaration is received electronically by the registrar of the municipality where the birth of the child was declared and proceeds to the naming.

Upon completion of processing, the updated notarial deed is sent electronically to the mailbox of the citizen, who is simultaneously notified by SMS and e-mail to locate and save or print the document via my.gov.gr. The copy incorporates all security features (QR Code, Security Code, Advanced Electronic Stamp) and can be provided for any legal use.

The ability electronic baptism declaration has any parent or sponsor, following the same procedure. The registrar registers it in the same way and the citizen is informed accordingly.

All the data of the citizen for the submission of the declarations are automatically drawn from Citizens’ Register via Interoperability Center.

As stressed by Mr. Pierrakakis “We started with the process of simplifying the registration facts, such as the birth of a child. We proceeded to the naming, where both parents are asked to agree on the declaration of naming and regarding the baptism-there are then some documents signed by the godparents and one of the parents. The registration of these documents will now be digital and will be circulated in the appropriate way to the relevant services of the state “.

Note that the design and development of the service was done by Ministry of Interiorthe National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures (EDYTE SA – GRNET), the General Secretariat for Digital Governance and Process Simplification and the General Secretariat for Information Systems of Public Administration of the Ministry of Digital Government.
