The Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food, Christos Kellas, in Elassona will be held tomorrow to address the blessing of sheep.

The meeting will be attended by the Secretary General of Rural Development and Food, Spyros Protopsaltis, OPEKEPE Vice President Ioannis Kaimakamis, senior officials of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning and Specialist Scientists, while representatives of the Livestock Organizations have been invited.

The aim of the meeting, as announced by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, is to inform their farmers and collective bodies about the precise implementation of the measures announced by the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, with the aim of rapidly addressing and eradicating the disease.

Measures include:

– A universal ban on moving sheep and goats within the protection and surveillance zones.

– Systematic disinfection of agricultural roads and animal movement points.

– Strict implementation of audit and health protocols, as defined by veterinary services.

– Continuous coordination with regions and local veterinary authorities, so that there is a single and effective action.
